I know that you want to truncate it on the page rather than within the SimplePie script though. Feel free to send me the full code you are using on your page and I’ll have a look at it for you.

Looking at the array string provided in their index.php and then at your approach… cannot figure-out how to make them play nice together.. will try pasted here again with code tags..

Hi Lars, I would truncate the title within the body of the page, not within the SimplePie script itself.

Let SimplePie parse the full title, then when you output it on the page (use the echo truncation string), truncate it.

Does that make sense?

I’m using the latest SP Newsblocks 2.0 from Here:

The multi-feed embed has array structure – as per sample code below – and cannot figure out how to Truncate the Feed TITLE character length..?!?

Any magic to get your fix — echo substr($item->get_title(), 0, 45); — working within either that array or via their newsblocks.inc.php script would be Really Great…!!!

Yes, the title is still truncating.
Change this line: ”>get_title(); ?>.

Thanks for the reply – i have just tried that but it doesnt seem to work i get only a few characters now with this code:

set_feed_url($url);

$feed->init();

$start = 0;

$length = 1;

$feed->strip_htmltags(array(‘img’,'embed’,'center’,'strong’));

BTW there shouldn’t be a gap between the first bracket < and ?php but it keeps getting rendered with the gap.
